We have a lot of fun with special theme nights, electronic games & movies, a progressive dinner and always a "God Spot" to keep us on track. Supper is also provided.
Our second band night is coming on 9th December, 2011 - with some great local Christian bands. The last one had 90 people - Cost is $5 entry plus food for sale. Local acts.... Make an effort to come and support some of our local Christian talent!!
We are sure it will be another great night.

Chain Reaction (Crew)

A recent addition to the youth activities at Weston Creek Uniting Church is a Performing Arts ministry team called Chain Reaction that is run in conjunction with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Canberra. The team is for Christian young people from all denominations who love to use live music, dance, puppets and drama to present a message of hope, destiny and God's love.
The Chain Reaction Crew is the idea of the Winslade family, (Rev. Tim is minister at WCUC) who have had many years of experience with leading YWAM’s King's Kids ministry in Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the world. Although Sandra and Tim Winslade help with organisation, the team draws on the leadership talents of our older youth and young adults.
The first Chain Reaction Crew mission trip was to Tasmania just after Christmas for two weeks. The team, drawn from ACT, NSW & Victoria, made up of 11 young people (13-21 years old + plus a 7 year old!!) and 3 adults, travelled by vans, staying at Uniting Churches & a YWAM base, and performing and ministering in Devonport, Burnie, Sheffield, Ulverstone, Battery Point (Hobart), Bothwell, Oatlands, St. Helen’s and Launceston, and worked alongside established ministries including the Anglican & Uniting Churches, Scripture Union and the Tasmanian Christian Convention.

Everyone had a great time, and would do it again in heart beat. Special thanks to the Canberra Region Presbytery for giving us a grant to purchase some portable PA equipment.
As for the future, there is certainly a lot of potential to develop this unique ministry and run more mission trips and there are many people wanting to jump on board. So as we seek God’s leading and encourage our young leaders, keep an eye out for more Chain Reactions – as these young people seek to make a difference in their generation.
Jan 2012 outreaches are now being advertised.
Vanuatu team is a 16 day trip for a team of about 12 people going to doing relief work building a water tank in a remote village of Vanuatu. the team leaves early January.
